The Living Forest
For just a few weeks each summer, the forests of the Great Smoky Mountains reveal one of nature’s most extraordinary displays. Beneath a moss-covered log and towering hardwoods, synchronous fireflies pulse in harmony while elusive blue ghost fireflies drift silently through the understory. In the stillness of the night, the forest itself seems to awaken, reminding us that some of nature’s greatest wonders are revealed only to those willing to slow down and look.
